12/22/2016 student post: Corinne!Corinne K. I was especially intrigued about this trip because it is to a unique place and because I plan on traveling a lot later in my life. I thought that a high school trip to a place that is not only beautiful but also historically and scientifically significant would be a great start to my international adventures. In regards to college I plan to either major in something related to cultures, specifically socio-cultural anthropology, linguistics, or world/international studies. Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands have a genuinely unique culture that I am excited to experience and explore. 12/22/2016 Student post: juliana!Juliana G. I'm excited for this trip because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only go to a place I’ve never been before, but to learn all that I can about it with some of my best friends. I’ll be taking lots of pictures to bring home to show everyone what we’ve learned and also to use as inspiration for my artwork! Learning from other cultures is an essential part of our IB Art program here at Reagan, and I am always looking for new sources of inspiration, so this trip will help develop my art in new and interesting ways. I really hope we see a lot of wildlife up close! I can’t wait to be out near the ocean, and I’m super excited for the hikes and other activities that’ll get us up and out there! 12/15/2016 Student post: Tanya!Tanya P. I am very excited for the Galapagos trip because of all the different sceneries. Living in a city doesn’t really give you a full nature experience unless you go sightseeing but sometimes a change is good. Traveling to different parts of the world has always been on my bucket list ever since I discovered books and art. Learning about different places and their culture through books makes me want to experience it in real life. As a DP Art student, I get the urge to draw new things on sight and so this is a great opportunity to expand on my traditional art skills. Definitely drawing the animals, plants and even people is the activity I’m looking forward to. I am also hoping to learn about a new Hispanic culture other than my own and learning the differences about the Spanish I know and the Spanish in Ecuador. All in all, I can’t wait for this trip! 12/8/2016 Student post: Emma!Emma U.
