student post: Sam!

I am looking forward to going to the Galapagos Islands because I want to meet new people and learn about people's culture. Ever since my world history teacher freshman year taught about Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution I have been interested in it. So the opportunity to go to the islands where he made discoveries and researched was a dream of mine. When the school announced that they were going to the Galapagos Islands, a place that many people dream about going to but never have the chance, I knew that I had to go. I also like to go camping and to just go into nature and view its beauty and having the chance to go a place that has not been touched by humans seems so awesome. I will be able to see things that have not changed since the beginning of time.

Student post: Gabriel!

By: Gabriel H.
Hello my name is Gabriel; I'm a junior here at Reagan and I'm very very excited to be going on this trip over during the summer. The one thing I'm most excited about is just the experience. One thing I've always wanted to do was travel and this trip allows me to go to a place that not most people will NEVER go to and it's for a pretty reasonable price. What intrigued me about this trip at first is all the things that we're going to do. I expected there to be more than enough things to do, but we're just going all out with hotel breakfast and boats and everything. Another thing that really catches my interest are all the little shops that we hopefully get to go to. I can't wait to buy a bunch of cool stuff. All of these amazing things aside, this trip is an incredible learning experience that combines my two most favorite school subjects. Science and History have always been my favorite and this trip is the perfect mix between the two. From the colonization of the Galapagos to the birthplace of the Theory of Evolution! That's so awesome! Although I don't take an environmentals class, I still take on an interest in the diverse ecosystem that the Galapagos has in store for us. One thing I hope to see is some animals that I've never seen before. Which by the way, is definitely going to happen and I'm super excited!

This trip is an astonishing opportunity that my school is offering. I would have never been able to go on this trip without my school. I’m very excited to go to the Galapagos Islands because of past experiences. At my old school, I wrote a journal about Charles Darwin and his mysterious experiences and discoveries of evolution. I would like to make the same type of voyage by going on this trip. Also, I would love to dive deeper into the Spanish language and culture. In addition love art with a great deal of passion. This trip will not only be insightful but also educational because it will teach me new things about new places and may even help me in the future for my career. This trip falls into the
IB curriculum because the trip is about science, the history of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and it taps into international travel. I am genuinely intrigued with this trip and I hope to be immersed into the art, see exquisite creatures, speak another language, travel and have fun.

This June, 35 Reagan students will be traveling to the Galapagos Islands. I am one of the lucky students that have been provided with this wonderful traveling experience! I’m very excited to be going to the Galapagos. I really enjoy traveling and I like to experience new things. Something that intrigued me about this trip is that I have never been out of the country. I’ve only traveled to a few states in the U.S. While in the Galapagos I hope to experience the culture there and I’d like to see wildlife. I'm super excited and I can't wait to go!

I was really intrigued when I first heard about this trip because I really love biology and when I heard about it I instantly thought of Charles Darwin. For the past two years I have been really fascinated with the study of evolution. I thought it would be really amazing to go to the island where natural selection was first thought upon and where darwin stumbled across on his way to England. I am also really excited to be traveling outside of the Country. Especially to Ecuador as it is the smallest country in South America and it is basically in the “middle of the world.” I am very excited to be a part of this trip and I can’t wait to see a new part of the world.
